FOURTH GRADE FIELD TRIP written by Emily Dvareckas Mrs. Calkin's and Mrs. Gauthier's classes went to the State House of New Hampshire in Concord. These classes went on November 4, 2009. We got to sit in Senators' and Representatives' chairs. Did you know there is no seat #13 in all five sections of the House of Representatives? We went to the State House to learn more about New Hampshire and our government. When we went, we saw Governor John Lynch in action meeting with the Executive Counsel. Here are some facts from the State House... - There are over one hundred flags in the Hall of Flags. - New Hampshire's State House is the oldest State House still used today. - Three is a statue of Daniel Webster in front of the State House. - Our Executive Councilor is Debra Pignatelli. click here for pictures of our field trip

35th Parallel VISITS CSDA written by Shannon O'Connor The group called 35th Parallel came to our school on Friday, November 13, 2009. In our gym, we saw them play really cool and exotic instruments from around the world, mostly Central Asia. Why? Because we are learning about Central Asia and this would help us understand about their musical culture. Some of the instruments were the bazuki, dideradoo, the jaw harp, lyre, and the ude. My friend Matt said, "The dideradoo sounds like a portable human beat box." It was a lot of fun because I learned a lot of new things about their music culture. The jaw harp sounded like an alien. It was a great assembly and I had a lot of fun.
